4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device:

  • Analytics user ID and timestamps
  • Onboarding completion status
  • Notification preferences
  • Prayer journal entries (stored only on your device)
  • App language preference
  • Push notification tokens

4.2 Server-Side Storage

Data transmitted to our servers and third-party services is stored according to their respective retention policies. This includes:

  • Analytics events (PostHog)
  • Push notification tokens (Firebase and our backend)
  • Error logs and diagnostic data

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure storage on your device using platform-provided secure storage mechanisms

5. Data Retention

Analytics Data: Analytics events are retained according to PostHog’s retention policies. Typically, event-level data is retained for analysis purposes and may be aggregated over time.

Push Notification Tokens: Stored as long as you have the app installed and notifications enabled. Tokens are removed when you uninstall the app or disable notifications.

Local Device Data: Remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data.

Error Logs: Retained for a limited period for debugging purposes, typically 90 days, after which they may be deleted or anonymized.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Notification Controls

How to Manage:

  1. Open the LifeHouse app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Toggle notification preferences for events, announcements, and prayer reminders
  4. Use the master toggle to completely disable notifications, which will also unregister your push token from our servers

You can also manage notification permissions through your device’s system settings (iOS Settings > Notifications > LifeHouse Poland, or Android Settings > Apps > LifeHouse Poland > Notifications).

6.2 Data Deletion

To delete your data, uninstall the app. This will remove all locally stored data, including your prayer journal, preferences, and analytics ID. Since we use anonymized analytics identifiers, uninstalling the app effectively disconnects any server-side analytics data from you.

6.3 Analytics

Analytics are essential for app functionality and error monitoring. By using the app, you agree to the analytics collection described in this policy. All analytics data is pseudonymous and cannot be linked back to you personally.

7. Children’s Privacy

LifeHouse Poland is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information from our systems.

8. International Data Transfers

The app is operated from Poland, but our third-party service providers (PostHog, Firebase) may store and process data in various locations around the world. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Notify you through the app or via push notification (if appropriate)
  • Post the updated policy on our website

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

  • Legitimate Interest: Analytics, error monitoring, and app improvement (where it does not override your rights)
  • Consent: Push notifications, surveys, and optional features
  • Contract Performance: Providing you with the app’s core functionality

11. Privacy by Design

We follow privacy-by-design principles:

  • Data Minimization: We collect only the data necessary for app functionality.
  • Pseudonymization: We use randomly generated analytics IDs instead of collecting personal identifiers like email or phone numbers.
  • Error Context Sanitization: We strive to remove personal data from error logs before they are transmitted.
  • No Unnecessary Tracking: We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data.
